Poems

(Farewell; Aug 1987)

Goodbye My Little Tiger

My first poem after my child days. I didn't dare to write it in German language and fled to my imperfect English.

Goodbye my little tiger
Have a nice time in France
Did exist for our love
Some little kind of chance?
We were like a flower in the summer wind
Unfortunalety
Yet the rising sprout
Knew about
The rare times of prosperty
And the early end in
Fall
At the summit of peak time.
Now the blades will blow so far away
Just memories remaining
And the sweet bitterness of melancholy
When the wind
Sends a small smell of the past
Goodbye my little tiger
I hope we will see again
The best wishes for the future
What will have changed till then?
Will we still be the same?
(Will we still play the game?)
Who else will touch our lives?
Will we meet without fear, shame or sorrow?
If we met today—what will we think tomorrow?
Where will you go to share your life—
To Me Or Not To Me?
And will I still be free?
That are so many questions
Just time can answer …
But I hope both are free
For a new time together
Or both found another
Heaven to hover
Goodbye my little tiger
Have a nice time in France
But please keep of the time with me
A little remembrance
Now I close my eyes
And remember the times I spent with you—
The timidly searching awake of our love
It was a feeling hardly to describe
Like a small universe just for me and you
Full of feelings
Whirling through place and time
Feelings contradictory but also complementing
So quiet, silent, peaceful, calm,
Warm, full of harmony
Protected, delicate, safe, secure,
So tender, soft, relaxed
So sheltered
But also exciting, stimulating, arousing, frank
And not at least inspirating
A closeness never found before
A mental melt in a save cocoon of calm
Goodbye my little tiger
Have a nice time in France
Did exist for our love
Some little kind of chance?
We are a real complement
The wild tiger
Lured the grumbler
Out of his own-built lonely hole
But now the bear must say:
Goodbye my little tiger
I hope I can bear missing your kind kind
Goodbye my little tiger
And I hope I'll keep you forever in mind.
